I do use aljazeera for a lot of news, they're good, to get a different take on the west.
I guess I'm trying to figure out who the good and bad guys are, but I don't think its so simple as that. It seems a lot of grey. Maybe they're both as bad but in different ways.
tl;dr WWI and the subsequent breakup of the Ottoman Empire followed by European land/grabs in the Middle East sowed the seeds for modern day sectarian violence in those areas.
