before the civil war in Syria, there was a plan to extend the existing Arab Gas Pipeline that currently goes as far as Lebanon, potentially to the Turkish border. This would provide a route for Egyptian gas (this was before they found themselves a bit short of supply in recent years) and potentially from other discoveries in the east Med to reach Turkey and maybe even plug into the TANAP pipeline that's being built for the Azeri gas. But, no plans to invade to build it.
