  • Short bibs
    Short sleeve jersey
    No gloves

Bit of water never hurt anyone, HTFU

  • Not the best week to rediscover my mojo and start commuting by bike again. Could cope with the rain but the constant headwind with occasional gusts trying to whip your wheels out from under you were grim. At least I had dry stuff at the end

    Carradice/10

  • It was a rainy and stormish morning...

Didn't get too wet (yay) and the new Shimano CX70 rear canti is great, and the Thorn had a service, so smooth/10 :)

  • ffs people it's only a little rain. no such thing as wrong weather, just the wrong clothes/bike

    cycling jersey
    randonee shorts
    shoes
    mitts
    pro team race cape
    MUDGUARDS

arrived at work smug as a bug in a rug, plus i had spare socks and a top just in case i had got soaked but I hadn't

    colleagues not so much

  • bibs
    jersey
    no mitts
    no mudguards
    50mm carbon clinchers

    sketchy/10

  • bibs

    jersey
    no mitts - fail
    no mudguards - fail
    50mm carbon clinchers - fail

    60% fail

  • I wore a train compartment, arrived dry and warm.

  • That must have been heavy

  • You sound like me.
No gloves or jacket required in June. No mudguards required ever. 28mm tyres and deep section rims at one point crossing the Essex Road the wind hit me from the East and I was literally blown 2 feet across the road and I'm fairly heavy. Then a tree came down not far from me on St John Street.

    Was great fun though

  • It's summer. Init.

  • Yep, my view was that it was summer so was bound to be warm rain so shorts and t-shirt it is.

  • Screwed it up big time today, only had the brkless at home so decided to train/walk it. Ditched waterproof for light jacket thinking it would brighten up (not sure why, pessimist by nature) and instead got drenched on the walk from Liverpool St to Bankside.

    Pockets still wet/10

  • People without mudguards: why you'd want to go out in the rain and marinade your arse in road spray I don't know, but have you not figured out that it is rather antisocial to be spraying anyone who has the misfortune to be behind you? C'mon, it's not hard to put on some friggin clip-ons.

  • Get off my wheel. This isn't a club run.

  • (Welcome to the club.)

  • Overtake or drop back, nobody's making you eat my road shit

  • No one is ever behind me for long enough to receive spray as I overtake and am gone in a flash tbh

  • It's not your personal fiefdom either...

  • witnessed said tree in road whilst wrangling an umbrella against the wind. Tree was heavy, would hate to have been reading a different story of 'rider down' related to that bad boy.

  • This. If its raining why would I want anyone that close to my wheel. Its only a commute not tdf, don't need to draft

My guard is long enough to cover my arse but also sprays anyone behind me, best of both worlds

  • If I don't know you, I don't want you on my wheel.

I have a bike with guards but I'll pay my monies and take my choice.
