I agree. Hopefully they are a temporary measure to make people feel safe(r) in the immediate aftermath and will be removed once threat levels are reduced.

Agreed.
The obvious answer is for vehicle curfews.
London has by far & away the best public transport provision in the UK. -

A bit like the 'temporary' concrete ones that went up outside the houses of parliament? In 2003.
-
• #45655
Totally different, I doubt the current government will see the same justification in costs to keep everyone else as safe as them for any extended period of time.

You're saying that Irish terrorist is sane and 'Middle Eastern' terrorist isn't? Are you sure about that? There's a lot different between the IRA and ISIS, but not that.

https://www.red24.com/members/indepth/uk_terrorism_attacks.php
"More broadly, as Islamist territory in the Middle East continues to shrink under various assaults, Europe is preparing for the return of large numbers of radicalised nationals who fought alongside IS and other groups. Authorities believe that as many as 760 British nationals could return to the UK. Such individuals, trained, experienced, and perhaps better supported by the wider jihadist network, are likely to pose a far greater threat than lone-wolf actors. Former fighters will have the potential to enlist militants into new domestic networks and share knowledge of terrorist tactics, bomb construction and the acquisition of weapons, exacerbating the current terrorist threat considerably and creating the conditions for more frequent high-profile, mass-casualty attacks."

Hmmm, if a Home Secretary had been given 6 years to tighten up the UK's borders,
they could all be intercepted. -

Weird glitch in the matrix just now as Kaye Burley seems to be reporting in front of a mirror image of herself.

That's, like, a clue.

Bin Laden was a regular at Highbury by all accounts.
That C4 documentary is still available on YouTube but you'll need a (currently still legal) VPN to watch it.

I'm more of a Krystal/White Castle guy but there you go... And Arby's.... Hhhnnnnggggg!!!
Cheeky Nando's has clearly taken off stateside...
I worry about adding lots of bollards along streets, as this could make things more dangerous for cyclists and other more vulnerable road users as they would mean no escape routes off the road if needed. A lot of progress has been made in the last decade to remove those horrible metal barriers that used to line all sorts of streets/junctions (hyde park corner, oxford cirus), and I'm not sure I want those back.
