  • Glad you're okay, Joe. That must've been a horrible experience.

  • All a matter of timing, glad your ok. horrible stuff.

  • I really do not understand why the BBC accept this lifelong serial liar & failure as a spokeman for the Tories.

  • Spot on. "Enough is enough" another hollow soundbite. Press already lapping it up. Anyone who dares question the wider picture is a terrorist sympathiser.

  • I'm fairly sure 'lifelong serial liar' is the main qualification to be a spokesman for the Tories.

  • Terrifying, glad to hear you lot were OK... A Brissy mate's friend got stabbed in the throat, she's gonna be OK so all good...

  • The joys of twitter.

  • Leave no pint behind

  • What the hands on head thing all about ?

  • To show they're not armed, didn't you play cowboys and injuns when you were a kid?

  • Maybe if 20,000 police jobs hadn't been whittled away, the response would have been even quicker.

  • What difference does his race matter far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

  • I've seen this theory posited elsewhere as well. Driving a van into people is obviously indiscriminate, but it's plausible that the (comparatively) 'liberal' attitude towards the role and place of women in Western society is something which is particularly under attack.

I teach a number of young Muslim women at the college where I work, who would happily shout down anyone who tried to tell them that they were going to limit their rights or opportunities. They're a great reminder that this mindless violence is usually limited to a small number of pathetic men.

  • So thats an intuitive response then is it ?
    or an instruction ?

  • It's been around a while.

Hands on head, should an armed arrest be needed is easier for the arresting officer to control the hands for handcuffs/punching in the guts etc.

  • thats not running away ^ ...

  • His hands are not on his head ^ ...

  • Yep, after I wrote it,
I looked at the sentence, and wondered if I was trolling myself.

IDS seemed to think that people are only stirred up by information on the internet,
rather than anything to do with repeated invasions of Muslim countries by the US and its allies.

  • BBC Radio 4 news
    8 officers, 50 shots, 3 dead.
Marksmen all off-duty on a Saturday night?

  • I hope all 50 shots found their target. One appears to have injured a MOP hopefully he'll be okay.

  • Were they wearing kevlar vests?

  • I believe that if you are firing at somebody wearing a suicide vest, the training is to put as many rounds into them as possible in order to disrupt the nervous system enough to prevent a trigger being pulled. It would be unusual to be dealing with an explosive that could be impact triggered.

I have a hunch that it may not have been police that fired at the terrorists. It all smells a bit military to me.

  • They were wearing "suicide vests". If you, as an armed police officer, are confronted with someone wearing what you perceive to be an explosive device, who has attempted to or has killed people, then they have to be stopped. That means you keep shooting until they stop moving and cannot initiate their bomb. This could explain the perceived overkill.
