  • They absolutely would.

Have you not seen all the Trump coverage?

It's news cos she's weird not cos she's a she.

  • I'm pretty certain they would be. There are very extreme faces. All. Media loves photos which show odd faces, but she makes it easy

  • she looks like someone just rammed a rake up her arse on live telly.

How are you supposed to not comment upon that? Everyone treats Gove with the same dismayed curiosity as to how someone can be so fucking strange as to not even be able to clap properly let alone whilst looking like he's reminiscing over his aunt patting down his crotch after he spilled apple juice in his lap...

  • There's some focus group material I can remember how to find that suggested that people are very receptive to Blairite policies. Okay, Blair did many things wrong, but he also did some things right. If you watch his interview with Alaistair Campbell for GQ on YouTube he's quite clear that his strategy was to start from the centre and build left from there. I genuinely agree with him on the strategy - and the focus groups suggested that someone adopting a similar strategy would get a lot of attention. Sadly our two-party dynamic makes it hard for someone to do that without winning control of either Labour or the Tory party. But that's why I've generally voted Lib Dem, quite devotedly so when PR seemed like it could be on the table. I know a bunch of you think they're pissants, and I'd agree on the current bunch. But I genuinely liked New Labour back in '97, and my first vote I could cast in my life was for them.

  • If they win I win, if they lose we all win so I win anyway.

Some genius on here did that for Brexit. I'm quite tempted.

Don't bet with Ladbrokes though support your local independent betting shop*.

    *Is that even a thing?

  • There's some focus group material I can remember how to find that suggested that people are very receptive to Blairite policies.

That would be unsurprising as Blairite policies were famously developed using lots of focus groups.

  • I won a small amount betting on Trump, in hindsight not enough!

  • May has set herself up on a 'I'm just like you (proles)'.
While she has some socio-economic distance from the Eton chumocracy of the CallmeDave cabinets, her repetitive soundbites, U-turns, and unwillingness to answer questions reveal her to be rather odd.

Those who court the favour of the tabloids, remember the 'Pins' headlines?, must also accept the inevitable backlash.

  • I won a small amount betting on Trump, in hindsight not enough!

I'm pretty certain that Corbyn for next PM was at about 80 on betfair about three weeks ago. He was certainly between 15-20 a week ago. He's now at 4.5.

  • Is the Owen that's addressed to Owen Jones?

  • Yeah I think you're right, I recall that as well. Luckily if he is PM that will be enough reward!

The various coalition options might be worth sticking a few £ on.

  • Yes. I think he tweeted it.

  • Owen Jones

    who?

  • Can't believe Paxman ... part rottweiler, part labrador ...

One thing to remember about Paxman is that he considered standing for London Mayor on behalf of the Tories.

  • who?

The author, political commentator and Guardian commentator. His YouTube videos are worth watching.

  • of course. total brain fart.

  • Luckily if he is PM that will be enough reward!

I can feel myself getting carried away with this thinking at the minute.

However, I've read enough articles over the past couple of years describing how difficult it would be for a labour win without Scotland that I'm more thinking of laying him now.

I've got a horrible feeling that the 'surprise' that always seems necessary in votes at the minute might be a massive, crushing Tory landslide :(

  • Oh yeah, I don't think he'll win either, at least not outright, unfortunately.

  • Tory candidate in Hove believes she cured a deaf man through prayer.

Presumably this will soon be Tory policy for a range of illnesses, thus saving lots of taxpayers money.

  • Tiered levels of praying with donations getting access to more of god's attention. Also multifaith.

  • A good piece from Martin Wolf in the FT on the 'no deal' nonsense (paywall)
