Long shot but is anyone driving to ToC who has a space in the car.

Will pay for Petrol,

Is it too early for the train? Advance 1st tickets on virgin are usually dead cheap.

The bike racks are in the guards can and are ok but remember to take some pipe lagging for the top tube if you don't want to get a few scratches.

Thanks, for the heads up on the train. The start is near Peterborough so it is Great Northern and they say there are no reservations so a bit wary of taking train.

Great Northern run slow trains (90 mins), Virgin East Coast run fast ones (45-55 mins).

I don't think there are any bike spaces on GN trains but at that time in the morning they won't be busy and you won't have a problem.

Virgin require reservations at any time of day, but you can reserve online when you book your ticket.
