Emile Zola was indeed esconced in an hotel of that name at that location.
I used to have a book of photographs Zola took locally whilst he was in the area.
I lent the book to @Clarion, who has since moved to the south coast.
I fear the chances of me seeing my book again are err.... slim.

That being, I believe, the hotel from which Zola ogled passing female cyclists when he went into self-imposed exile after his defeat in the Dreyfus case.
