The mic on my Sennheiser MM30i packed up the other day (though speakers are still working), so I went to find a cheap replacement whilst at work (messing) and needed something with a mic for answering calls but the price of which wasn't going to make my balls shrivel (MM30i were £45!)
I picked up some Sol Republic in-ears with a mic for £15.99 in HMV. Considering the price, the sound is actually good compared to others in that bracket, fit is ok, flat cable to reduce tangling, construction is alright (not overly plasticy) and a nice simple shape to the buds (I hate fancy designs). So they meet most of my requirements. Two disappointments; the only colours available were red and chartreuse (no black) and most upsettingly, they suffer from wind noise quite badly, noticeable immediately whilst on the bike.
Would recommend for an emergency replacement, or a cheap in-ear option if you're not using them in a Scottish gale or at any speed.
