My reptile brain kicks in and pulls my front brake whilst steering at the same time. I go into a massive endo and actually swerve on my front wheel whilst the rear is a good foot or so off the tarmac. Release the front brake to drop the endo and miss the kerb stone by fractions.
that is exactly how I attempted to avoid the van that right hooked me a few years back. front wheel endo skid then release brake and try to steer away from the collision, except in my case the twat still smashed me with the side of his van. would have felt pretty badass if he hadn't though.

Badass and very very shaky.

Tried that to avoid an oncoming drunk non-lighted cyclist on a narrow path lately.
It was a gravel path though. Front wheel slid out, hands and knee knackered, pants killed.

Some idiot in a black VW Golf (or Polo) driving behind me knocked me off my bike in Kentish Town yesterday and just sped off despite clearly seeing me dive onto the asphalt. Luckily I was riding slowly as I had just turned to Fortess Rd past the public toilet bar and didn't get badly hurt, just bruises and a broken watch. I was just leisurely riding along Kentish town high street on my way home after a long ride and don't think I had managed to piss anyone off on that stretch (don't have a habit of provoking anyone or getting provoked by bad drivers anyway). I didn't even see that car before it hit me! Also a bit surprised and disappointed in London people, a good few saw the whole thing and one person came to ask if I was ok. I've been riding a bike in London for a couple of years now and have seen loads of bad drivers, but this level of twattery never. Does this happen a lot here?

Absolutely report this to the police. There may be cctv evidence and the twat may hurt others if he gets away with it.

Felt a bit silly for reporting it, but did it anyway in case they've got reports of similar incidents in the area. I doubt they'll start checking CCTV or anything but at least it's in the system.

Bah, riding down Shelton St going past the Crown & Anchor, van in front jumps on the brakes, I stop a few metres behind assuming there is traffic in front of van but instead van man then reverses alarmingly quickly back towards me. So I try to scramble out the way to the side (surprisingly hard from stationary!) and he just clips my back wheel taking me off.
"Sorry I missed my turn" is the explanation and off he goes down Neal St I think it is.
Adrenaline has annoyingly melted my brain sufficiently to forget the reg. Bike in one piece aside from a shifter banged out of place and some superficial pannier damage.

Riding up Junction road. Massive BCA Auctions car transporter passes so close I could touch it. Not normally one to confront drivers but this fucker was ludicrously dangerous. At next lights told driver (politely) that he was dangerously close, and nearly knocked me off, to which he replied "but I didn't though, did I?" and drove off. Arsehole. wrote an email to his employers detailing the incident and truck reg, pointing out that this guy is a fatality waiting to happen. To be fair they came back within the hour, and are "investigating" with a promise to reply to me fully within 48 hrs.

The follow up will be a letter detailing this is an internal matter and they can't tell you about it (they are doing sweet fuck all).

In London, you're never more than 6ft away from a twat.

No, just got this from them. Fair play:
"I am following up with the incident below, and please rest assure dealing with this incident within company procedures. I do not expect my drivers to be driving in this manner and will not be tolerated.
The driver in question is in for a disciplinary meeting not next week as I’m on leave but the first day back the following week where I will deal with him in the correct procedures, please accept my apologies for this incident, and please feel free to contact me on the number below" -

asked what "correct procedures" means.:
their reply " this will include re training for the driver in question, and also sent a memo to all driver reminding them of company procedures in relation to the road traffic act."

That'll be "wafting the book at them" rather than throwing it.

If you did hit that dog what would you do or would happen?
I live somewhere where they're jumping out all the time on a cycle path with no leads on
Who's fault is it?
always concerned as their owners have no real care for them.

Your fault. You're allowed to run over a cat but not a dog.
I think this is because dogs are nice and cats are cunts.
Actually it was before breakfast.
