@WornCleat
WornCleat in reply to @boristrump Why on earth are Trump's wife and
daughter wearing mantillas? The practice of women covering their heads
in church with a hat or mantilla went out in the 1960s with Vatican
II. Are they trying to present themselves as Tridentinealists?Big hoo haa about Mrs T not wearing a veil in Saudi and then Trump
wears a skull cap in Israel and now this. Odd.Ha! When I saw those pictures on the news I wondered too.
My conclusion is that all they know about Italy is what they watched from that movie of Francis Ford Coppola. So, the actresses thought that the playing was more appropriate with 'femmena d'onore' costumes.

But on the other side, he managed to sell $110 billion of arms in Saudi, surely a step forward winning his war on terrorism.

In the meantime, he obviously knows how to build a stronger economy.

But, I rather prefer the Tories. Bloody hell what efficiency! 1000 soldiers in sec and Buckingam Palace, Kensinghton Palace, Westminster and number 10 security is guaranteed. Now they can finally sleep better so that they can do a better job for us in the morning, tomorrow.

Paddock is an old English word for toad.

Just a pity they didn't watch Fellini's Roma.

God knows how they could have turned up if that was they inspiring source. In the end, they are not too far for being Felliniani characters though. Salo, also, has powerful characters.

I watched Salo when it was first released in the mid 1970s. The Obscene Publications Squad raided the "club" cinema in Old Compton Street that was showing it and forced a cut of around 8 minutes. It was a powerful and disturbing film. Around 15 years ago, in more liberal and enlightened times, I bought the DVD. I am not sure if it was the additional 8 minutes or my own ageing but I could not bring myself to finish it.
It is now available on line for free.

I watched it twice. Highly disturbing indeed. Image from a fascist point of view how it has been absorbed, oh gosh.

I take comfort in knowing that there is something out there that disturbs even you.
