that looks like a pretty extreme position in the first pic. Modern campag would prob look good. Plenty of ideas here:

Thats fab. Real potential there. Love the seat stay detail and the fillet brazing. I'd leave the paint I'm guessing the transfers are under the lacquer. Nice lamp too!

Thanks! And apparently. it's tigged! Decals seem to be on top of the paint though, flake off just by looking at them..

theres a lot of room for improvement but I totally trust you with that space..;)
enjoooooy.
no idea to retromodern it? -

It depends. I've got 9spd Chorus on one bike with the same style Ergo's as yours, and they're my favourite shifters. More so than the modern 11spd Chorus I have on another bike.
However I appreciate a lower bottom gear than 9spd Chorus can manage'gramming, commuting etc, then build around those Ergo's. Otherwise, modern groupset

Hoi!
I already have a modern steel bike with the latest Campa Chorus 11 on it so i'm leaning towards keeping this bike classic and simple. Even thinking friction shifters :) -

Beautiful frame...
if going friction I'm leaving you a hint:

Syncro? If yes hopefully you've got the complete correct cassette/chain/shifters combination as there were soooo many available.

Syncro yes! And si, I have them. They should be correct and complete
Last week I stumbled upon an ad on the local craigslist which seemed to good to be true.
Not far from where I live was a listing of a Somec Dynamic with an 8 speed Campy ergo Athena gruppo. Pictures were shite and the bike looked terrible but the seller lived only 40km. away so I mailed the guy and we arranged a meeting.
The bike looked horrible and was very dirty but it was exactly my size and the price was more than reasonable. I decided to buy the bike since I have been lusting over a Columbus Max/MiniMax Somec since I got into bikes.
This is how she looked when I got her. the saddle was waaaaaay down, but luckily not stuck.
I took her apart and gave the frame a good wash. The chrome cleaned up really well and the paintjob is ok. She could use new transfers though.
What to do now? I'm leaning towards a Full C-rec. group although DA 7400 also tickles my fancy..
Hmm, an Italian deserver Campy, right?
