  • Road only.

If you drill those forks part of the forum will have a meltdown :)

Something like this for front brake, you can do rear as well.........
    http://hubjub.co.uk/dia-comp-clamp-on-track-brake---front-1321-p.asp

Take one of your road bikes, depending on your set up, try a ride around town, never stop pedaling, try 42x18 gear to play with, then try say 42x16 etc etc this will give you an idea of what you can away from junctions without too much wobble or knee pain. Play around with your gears to find a nice ratio to start with fixed.
As you get used to fixed you can gear up.

I haven't mastered fixed skidding so use a rear brake, my 42x16 lets me cruise along at 16mph, i can fast cruise at 20mph and short sprint up to 25mph, it's also fairly easy to pull away from junctions and tackle hills around me.

  • Cool, thanks for advice.

Rest assured that there will be no drilling anywhere on this frame.

  • I can vouch for that dia compe clamp on brake, got it for an old undrilled track frame I have and works perfectly

As for gearing, it really depends on where you're riding. I ride mainly in London where it's nice and flat, and 48x17 works wonders for me, but maybe if you're new to fixed a slightly smaller ratio would be nicer

  • If you do go down the Dia Compe route, then make sure you protect the paintwork with tape before you fit it, as they have a tendency to rub.

  • DRILL IT

    DO IT

  • Drill it then pretend that the previous owner dun it. No one need ever know.

  • drill it, risers, oury grips, ass saver, freewheel

    job done

  • Can't believe I've missed this thread - okay I'm not that late. @SideshowBob chuffed for you and equally jealous... if you ever sell this.... No, seriously ;)

  • @jambon, Your dibs is noted :)

  • forum first? Brakeless 1x10?

Make a video of it for youtube and then post it in the bike porn thread?

  • Anyone know anything about Moser frame serial numbers ?

I think this is aged around 83-84'

Going by the 51.151 logo incorporated in the transfers/arrow panto'd on lugs I would guess the frame was made after 19th January '84 when Moser broke the hour record (cycling a distance of 51.151 km). Having said that I have heard bikes with 51.151 panto'd lugs and older style Moser text logo fork crowns were built around the transition period utilising existing stock. Having the winner of the Super Presitge Pernod award transfer on the top tube near the headtube shows its not pre '78, not that that was in question. Discussed a few times in the Moser thread is the murky nature of serial numbers, many bikes were apparently built outside of the Trento factory by other well known builders.

Pos of interest - BB shot of what looks to be a very similar frame.

  • I like the look of the oury grips, I'm thinking black or white

  • This is going to be good. Any ideas about wheels?

  • Chain stays are beautifully shaped

  • @Poetic Any suggestions ?

  • The frame itself is amazing and don't know whether to have understated rims or OTT

  • Beautiful!

  • Seoul 88's I believe are tubs which are likely not that useful if you want to ride on the road/ if you fancy learning to skid. I believe the Omega V aero rims (can't remember the exact name) are effectively the same rim but also came in clincher.
