Does anyone here make badges? Or has used an online badge maker?
edit - pin badges, not head tube badges

Try Etsy? Maybe message a seller on there who says they do customised badges

Well if you visit Deptford you will see why it 'needs' gentrification :P
Also The Waiting Room on Deptford High st for flat white.
If you are here on the weekend maybe go here too: https://www.streetfeast.com/visit-us/model-market/
I could create an Airbnb experience 'SE London Gentrification Tour'

Can anyone tell me what the purpose of the plastic tube is on this top cap for my aeroad? It's forcing me to put the steerer bung below the stem, something I see no sense in doing.

10/11 speed compatibility question...
I have a FFWD disc wheel from c.2010 that I am looking to sell. I have a potential buyer, but he runs 11sp campagnolo on his bike and has asked about compatibility. I have asked FFWD and the disc is built around a 10speed ultegra hub and since it was built before the introduction of 11sp drivetrains, it is apparently not possible to upgrade the freehub body to anything 11speed compatible. My question is whether there is any way around this problem?
In this article (http://www.velonews.com/2013/09/bikes-and-tech/drivetrain-compatibility-hidden-in-plain-sight_303199), Leonard Zinn suggests that SRAM Shimano and Campag 11sp cassetts are interchangeable and that if I could swap the free hub body to Campagnolo then all my problems would be solved... however obviously Shimano don't make a campag freehub body for <2010 ultegra cassetts...
However... in this thread on TTF (http://www.timetriallingforum.co.uk/index.php?/topic/117812-ultegra-11-speed-cassette-to-suit-10-speed-wheels/) some chap is selling Shimano 11sp cassettes that fit 10sp free hubs because he has shaved some of the metal off the back of the cassette.
If all 11sp cassettes are interchangeable, and if this chap can make 11 sp Shimano cassettes fit on a 10sp Shimano free hub, then does this mean that my buyer can run campy 11sp on my old FFWD disc???
My main worry would be the derailleur fouling the disc in the easiest gear?

Campag have different spline patterns so are a no go, but they are spaced basically the same as shimano so are interchangeable in that sense, so he could possibly use an adapted shimano cassette with his campag shifters/derailleur, assuming there is clearance for the derailleur at the disc end.

He can get one of these:

It's an 11 speed cassette that fits on a Shimano freehub but has the option of having sprocket spacing for Campag.11 speed shimano and campag are interchangeable regarding the chain working, but not on the kind of freehub they fit. Shimano needs an 11 speed freehub, Campag should work on any Campag one from 8 speed up.

Campag 9,10,11 on the same freehub I think.

There's a guy that machines down 11spd 6800 cassettes so they fit 10spd freehubs - this would be your best bet. Ask on TTF.
Running a 5800 cassette with 11spd Campag no problem.

If all 11sp cassettes are interchangeable
Which they aren't, but what you mean is that they all have the same sprocket spacing as one another so you can use Campag cassettes with Shimano dérailleurs and vice versa.
My main worry would be the derailleur fouling the disc in the easiest gear?
That might be an issue, since it's lenticular. The disc face probably runs closer to the dérailleur than spokes would. This is why Campag discs take weird 9-out-of-10 or 9-out-of-11 cassettes. Have a look at the gap with 10-speed and see whether there's at least 2mm clear, since that's what you'd need if you fitted a shaved CS-6800.

Heard good things about these chaps... http://www.nspmerch.co.uk/
Few of our friends have used them before and you get a good deal on bulk orders too.

I had the same problem you describe on a singlespeed set up with a chain tensioner. I could change the way it tensioned so setting it up to push the chain in rather than out solved the issue.
-
• #83914
The cheap one I bought (likely part of the issue) looks to be only a push down version, but I will look to see if I can take it apart.
No skips at all on the way home last night and only a couple this morning.

Took a punt in the end and got the Pedro's one. Fits perfectly.

Speaking of which, is there a forum-approved grease for all-weather hubs that's easily available? Over on the CTC boards the recommendations are all for either homebrew concoctions or industrial greases only sold by the barrel...
-
• #83917
Do you mean hub gears or?
-
• #83918
Thanks for the responses. I realise that the spline patterns are different so I should have expressed that more clearly but lots of useful info in there, and it looks like there probably will be a solution. Cheers, all.

No, normal hubs; I've got some on my hack bike that the previous owner drilled for grease injection; when I bought it he mentioned he used something semi-fluid with lots of corrosion inhibitors that he could just inject into the hub body and let it make its way into the bearings, but no idea what it was.

Maybe some type of marine waterproof grease, usually have corrosion inhibitors to resist the salt.

We have a grease thread...
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/257349/
...in which a group buy of Shell Gadus S2 V220 AD 2 in 400g cartridges happened last year.
Shell Gadus S2 V220AD is a full EP multipurpose grease that contains solids for good shock-load resistance in wet environments
It is a grease that you can rely on to provide good wear protection and bearing life for your moderate to high-speed bearings operating at moderate temperatures
It is widely recognised and listed by leading equipment manufacturers -

There was a till fuckup and checking my card a few days later I've been charged twice.
Do I contact my card provider or the company that double-dipped?

Are all shimano ht2 bb's much of a muchness? They're all just two
sealed bearings and a couple of bits of aluminium right?anyone, bueller, anyone?

I guess the company, then the card provider?

Ta. Contacted the company. They're gonna call me back.
Winner winner, 'chicken' dinner.
I drove home from work yesterday listening to a 30 minute Radio 4 program on the rise of the artisan mac 'n' cheese. I'm primed for a Cheesus Christ.
