75K was an estimate to get it nice and livable... the guys I get to do my my building work are super cheap but decent, pals of mine just spent 140k on getting half their house redone, I'd only be after a small but well designed middle class conservatory so think it would scrape in under 100k. Your mate obvs didn't buy enough bronze/copper.

Very interested in these building works discussions. Keep getting tempted to put an extra floor on the top of my house (it's a two storey modern ish house but with flat roof, neighbours are all pitched so higher than us).
Trying to work out how much that might cost to do is one of the considerations before we decide to potentially fork out for the first steps (architects plans, planning permission)
Dunno how much Fox's extension was but I'm not sure how famous you'll get for 75k... Mate of mine in Catford spent £130k doing a bog-standard loft conversion and kitchen extension (open plan, bi-fold doors, island, etc). It's really nice but not unusual/architect-y.
