I wear Rapha touring shorts (from eBay) and I must have worn them, without exaggeration, 500 times at least. Great shorts. Normal underpants underneath. Sometimes leg or knee warmers if it's very cold.
I just wear any old t-shirt on top when it's warm like today. When it's colder I'll wear a merino base layer and a jacket maybe.
