They do this at lots of gigs in my experience, especially ones where it's likely to be parents coming in to pick up their kids..

I suppose any previous risk assessment would have skipped right over it, not sure if there is a precedent.

Police says it happened in a public space outside of the venue.
Coat checks etc would be irrelevant in that case. -

It always is, I'm so glad I dont have it anymore. Its like a competition for likes to show who's the most compassionate.

The ticket and bag checks are usually set up between the box-office/entrance hall and the auditorium, so members of the public can access the merch tables and if the weather changes, you don't have people queuing outside.
As with airports, moving the security checks further out just moves the bottleneck out into a space where the queueing customers would actually be more vulnerable.

Conspiracist nonsense; which isn't to say that the usual awful cunts won't try and make hay from this. Expect lots of 'strong, stable, and secure' bullshit over the next fortnight.

The party would not. Crazy deluded fools might dream such a plan thinking it would help their cause. See also Jo Cox.

Astonishing details of press behaviour to get a story

And am I right in also thinking that the Evening Standard have a preference for the more photogenic victims?
-
• #45319
Yes, they all do. Like the current story about the girl 'spared jail' who is studying at Oxford.

They also manage the responses. I was thinking about this earlier, I mean no offence to anyone but it's curious how every real-life documentary always includes the obligatory crying scene. Building a house, doing a mountain bike ride, moving to a Tuscan farm, every episode has a weeping moment. Same with the BBc interviews. If you're photogenic and can break down in tears your interview will be shown. That's not to attack the people who are upset at all, it's just the media manage the responses. They rarely show anger, for instance.
Some speculation that security was tight on the way in (bag checks etc.) but as it was over, they'd just opened the doors.
