Is there not simply a washer and nut missing off that threaded cable stop?

I know about the seat post bolt hangers, I was just curious as I have never seen this type of braze on, and was wondering what the purpose was.
The treaded caple stop in the picture I fished out of a parts bin at the local bike co-op. Washer and nut aren't pictured, I took it off for the picture. It doesn't fit all too great even after I filed down another washer for the front to fit.
I hadn't looked at the mounts closely and was expecting something like this.

If you look at the one I linked the long slot would fit over the little pip on the braze on and then you could put a nut and bolt through the hole on the hanger and the slot on the braze on. That way it would be adjustable and also stay straight. I've no idea if that's what the idea was, but it makes sense to me. Otherwise the pip is redundant.

Thanks, I hadn't actually thought of fitting it like that.

Currently preparing a message to Bob Jackson. I'm not actually from the UK (Switzerland currently), and thought maybe this was something common I had just never seen.

If memory serves me it'll be for a cam fit fitting like this but for the rear I think

Better view of the slot here

Sounds like a much better idea than my suggestion.
I couldn't think what the pip was used for except as some kind of stop, but it's much better suited to being a guide.

Nice! Thank you, that's the exact same braze on.
Should I just get the dia compe set (it looks similar enough) or do you have any idea whether this part is still available?

You might get a part like that at a cycle jumble but the front hanger in the UK is a tenner so probably worth having a punt and worst case scenario having some dremmel action I'd have thought?

I'll have a look at the local coop before ordering, ordering things is always an annoyance with shipping costs and customs fees. Shipping is another 10 pounds, and the customs fees plus processing probably another 10. Cycling related disadvantages of not being in the EU I guess.
I have this Bob Jackson touring bike that I am currently trying to fix up as a Randonneur/light touring bike. Previous owner had it set up with Ahead adapter, flat bars, XT levers and V-brakes.
I am trying to convert it to a drop bar setup with cantilever brakes. However, the rear canti holder looks like nothing I have ever seen before. I have googled and couldn't find a similar frame from Bob Jackson anywhere, the World Tour has a standard rear canti mount.
Does anybody know how to fix a cantilever cable stop on this type of braze on? Is there a specific part I need? Pictures are below.
I built a temporary fix with some odd parts (seen in the picture), but it is not staying in place well and scratching the paint.
