Good find: that downtube!

A slightly more revealing pic then. Needs a damn good clean. The paint seems to have stained a bit from the dirt unfortunately and the rear ends are a bit rusty. The fork is undrilled. One of the sets of wheels were Wolber profil 20 laced to campagnolo track hubs and soldered/tied bladed spokes- nice but again a bit worse for wear from a while in the wilderness. Hoping that it can all be cleaned up into serviceable state. Included a campagnolo single ring strada chainset- not sure of year/series.

Great find. Never seen a bike part in someones garden let alone a schweet bike frame.

I'm jealous now, haha. Nice find! Is it straight where it needs to be though?

^this. Id take it to a local frambuilder to get checked for cracks and straightness. Could have been unused in the garden for a reason

The lady that owned the house said her husband and son used to race but hubby is now too old and the son had a heart condition and couldnt ride any more. It had all been in a shed until she made them move it out of the way. In all i took away 5 pairs of wheels. about a dozen wheel bags(spider homes), a couple other odd parts and a columbus aelle tubed but unbranded touring frameset. Most of the wheels were open pro laced to campagnolo hubs, one set are laced to ultegra. Ive had a good look around the Sirius frame and cannot find anything wrong with it structurally. Just cosmetics it seems. Everything like headset/seatpost and BB all fine and not seized.

The dirt has kind of become ingrained in the colour coat..ive tried to buff it out with various cutting compounds with marginal improvement. Any ideas? im tempted to wet n dry sand like you woould fresh paint before laquer and then re apply the clear. Bad idea? Might be a case of repro all decals and get new reynolds ones and sending frame off to be blasted then powdercoated or painted. It would save a lot of manual labor but maybe its best left ratty and i just clean up the rear ends/anti rust treatment/prime and paint in the nearest yellow i can obtain.

https://h-lloyd-cycles.myshopify.com/products/sirius-head-tube-decal-5-ponted-star-with-pentagon-and-star-at-centre-plain-white-or-plain-black-cut Ive put some jenolite on the rust - will see what it does, probably going to sand off any bubbly or flaky bits and flat the rest. It seems HLloyd do replacement decals. My local motor factors arent too bad at a spot of repro but i may just buy the set from the link. The originals are blue but the site only has black or white so im thinking black on yellow will be nicer. Contemplating respray in a slightly more pastel yellow verging on fluo but not quite.

if it's heavily incrusted, you can try a household multi-surface cleaner (in France we have one called Cif, don't know the equivalent in England). It is powerful and contain abrasives, so it'll dull the paint, but I had very good results on very old frames with it.
Afterwards, you'll want to compound and polish the frame, in order to restore it's shine.Another, less aggressive method, would be to use a clay bar. Car enthousiasts use that to remove ingrained dust and tar, seems to work very well. I haven't tried it though.

Was called Jiff now called Cif here as well Pish :) back in the days when a Snickers bar was a Marathon bar.......
Jiffing vehicles to get road grime off was also an excellent pre-prep for a respray as our employer at the time found out....... of course our protests where ignored so we happily Jiffed everything as per orders. -

Buy the repro ones and give them to a standard vinyl guy to re-produce in the right colour :)
also, bike looks great :)

one thing that bugs me is one of the vittoria tubs is incorrectly made or printed in that the label is not opposite the valve..little annoying detail.

Lovely project!
stumbles across a pile of bike parts in someones garden..knocks on door, offers some £ and starts another project.
