My seatpost diameter is 27.2, which should be fine. The difference in radius of the cutout would be so marginal that it wouldnt make a difference, and would still be better than the system I have at the moment. It does make me wonder why Harry Hall used this strange design if a working look version was readily available

Roughly the expander is 25mm long.
You've ordered it already I suppose they sell the 2 parts together?
I'm based in E14, you could have had a look at mine,but I understand, you want to sort it out quickly ;-)

It's not made in plastic I would say alloy. It's about 14mm for the diameter, which fits perfectly into the 'hole'.
Mine is definitely the same as the ebay listing, 25mm refers to the diameter of the seatpost.
What's the diameter of your seatpost?
I don't know about JeJames Cycles but it makes no sense to sell only one part of the clamp.
