  • Such a nice build, shame about them structuals.

  • So, we were supposed to have something on at the shop for Bespoked this weekend, but it fell in through. Thankfully I'd finished the Caad build so I just put that in the window instead.
It is hand built after all!

  • A few more shots of the finished build.

    Those tyres though!

The lesson, as always, gum wall is always hot.

  • Looking so glamorous in the window.

  • Nice. Structurals lolol

  • Having sold this, to buy the Saeco. it's back. Gonna be a parts box, clearout and sell all the spares build, not got a lot of cash.
already picked up a well used 105/ultegra gruppo for a ton, which is nice.

  • Great Job though, looks well in the window too.

  • Literally you:

  • actually, this is me

  • Needs a structurals update.

  • Totally forgot about this

  • Top thread

  • ask and thalt shall receive.

found some mad bargs wheels, with crazy rims that must be some kinda strucurals nightmare.

mind you Mr Ritchey seems to think they are safe, so what do I know?

  • so, um yeah. as this is a budget build I've had to improvise.

the time forks I found are way to long, like 60mm too long to use a quill stem, so I'm going threadless as the stem will clamp off the threads at the bottom.

that means an aheadset, of which there aren't many that are cheap. enter the M Part comp. bargain prices and it's obvious why. the machining is not amazing, it's at the bottom. end of the tolerance as it just drops in to the headset.

solution? glue. Well Loctite 648 bearing seat.

  • progress is slow, and the gruppo is a real mixed bag.

I'm hoping to not have rise, we'll see how it measures up tomorrow.

  • Whilst I thought I was done, that wasn't the case. Offered an Ultegra 6800 groupset for a very reasonable price. Hence this.

  • CAAD2 bros!

Yours is rad man, gumwalls look mint on it. I want to do modern 105 or Ultegra on mine too.

  • Bonsoir,

Nice build apart from the structurals obviously haha.

Could you elaborate on how does the da7700 compare to your modern groupsets? I think a part of me does want another (4th) Cannondale vintage yet period correct build with some 'shiny bits' (as she calls them lol).
Only had some brief experience with old 105 but was too greedy and sold it too quick(

  • I know, those structurals will plague me forever.....

I live the 7700, if you get a really good condition set it still shifts really smoothly, accurate and precise.

Obviously the 6800 is better, the improvements over the years are easy to see, but... For the amount of riding I do, it makes little or no difference to the experience.

  • I'm a big fan of the 6800 group set and Cdales, so this is ticking all the boxes for me. Great build mate, the gummies set it all off!

  • Looks awesome, great job !
