Perhaps this classic Carrera Team Podium (in Giro Colours!)
http://www.carrera-podium.it/en/halloffame
My experience is that build quality and geometry is more important to climbing than out and out weight, i.e. how the bike puts down power...I rode a steel Colnago all over dartmoor as well as a Cervelo carbon! plus gearing is simple to change to provide a low gear for very steep stuff...where are you thinking of climbing? maximum gradient?
Here's some pics, handbuilt frame, Shimano 600 ( Ultegra ) Campag record wheels. PM any queries? Thanks, Chris

Thanks Chris - it looks good, but I got a CAAD 10 for her on EBay in the end. Topic closed!
Looking for a solid road bike for my wife - she is 164cm tall with 78cm inside leg. Modern frameset preferred, planning hilly rides in the summer so weight will be important. Max budget of £500, can pick up anywhere in London and Cambridge.
