I didn't watch it, no. All TV is shite unless it's the news, documentaries about engineering or 80s films.

All news is shit, docos are ok but depends on the subject, some 80s films are ok, as are 80s remake/pisstakes. Anyway, I use a Supernova F&R and an SP thru-axle dynamo.

Can anyone recommend a cheap version of those little gold plugs you get for joining supernova light cables?

Picky bugger aren't we!

eBay 2mm bullet connectors or 2mm banana connectors.
Loads to choose from for a couple of quid a bag.

Ok people, I'm tearing what little hair I have left over my damned dynolight problem. I'm running a sp pd8 hub, supernova E3 front and rear lights. Trouble is the rear light won't work when connected to the front light. I've matched the blue and red wires and my multimeter tells me there's DC voltage coming out of the front light. Rear light dead. I figured it or the cable must be broken but when I connect it directly to the hub it blinks merrily to the beat of the hub's AC output. What ze fuck am I missing??

Output of the front light is fucked? Test that.
-
• #762
I have them on my bike, fucking awesome, less flaffing about at 4am during an audax ride.
-
• #763
front light is fucked?
Doesn't seem like it, wires from it to the rear make lots of happy numbers on my multimeter screen. Could be it's lower than 6V or something I suppose. Will check again.
-
• #764
Output is ok, rear light is ok:
Are you sure you are connecting them properly? How are they connected? Twisted? -
• #765
E3 Triple or Pro 2?
Could you have paired the wrong rear light to front?
-
• #766
Shorting when you've joined them? How did you strip the cables?
-
• #767
Is it an AirStream 5V taillight?
-

Are you sure you are connecting them properly? How are they connected?
Yes. Spade connectors.
E3 Triple or Pro 2? Shorting when you've joined them? How did you strip the cables?
Says E3 pro on front, E3 on rear. Supposed to run on 6V DC. No they don't short, stripping and fitting connectors all done correctly I think.
Is it an AirStream 5V taillight?
No says 6V on it.
Will bring both lights back to the shop and see if they have a powerful wizard there to sort this out.

If nothing solves it — Call Supernova and get a new one ?
You dont want to mess up with your rear light on a long night ride ;) -
• #770
I think I'm on to something now. Output through the rear wires when spinning front wheel as fast as I can in the workstand is more like 2V than 6V. So it's probably not the rear but the front light that's faulty. Seems like a very strange fault, you'd think it'd be all or nothing, but idk very much about electrical stuff.

Anybody using the SP SV-9? Reading mixed reviews here. Seems to be the one that comes in fewer hole count with low weight in my budget.
Any issues with it being for smaller wheels which I've seen mentioned? What sort of speed would you be moving with 700c before decent power?
Worth getting one with disc mount even though it will be used with rim brakes? For future proofing. I do want to move to discs in the next year or two -
• #772
Or any other smallish (light) and decent hubs I should be looking at <£100 and in 24-28h?
-
• #773
@PhilDAS had for two years, never missed a beat. Plenty bright enough for pitch dark audax. Connected to Luxos U. Some people's Luxos U's did seem brighter than mine though FWIW.... And I think the only difference was that there's would go into floodlight mode when riding at a slower speed than I was. They'd have a full size hub, I had the smaller one.

Fantastic thanks. Sounds good then.
Do you think I should go for the SL-9 for future use with discs? I'll be using with rim brake for now though. I can't find the SL for sale anywhere really though -

I agree he's a bit much sometimes but this is pretty cool
