Most importantly:
What's the pay like? -
• #3
It's not mentioned so it's not going to be a benefit of working with the company
-
• #4
Is it the most important thing though?
Basically I wasn't going to bullshit you all and out some crap like 'competitive pay. We pay somewhat similar to other retail jobs. There is a small amount of personal commission which enables the people who are motivated to potentially earn more and if you want to learn more about the job including pay I am happy to meet up.
I am not going to get into a pay debate cause ultimately I won't win, I have no power to change it, all I can do is make sure the people who choose to work for the money we offer enjoy coming to work, hopefully learn a thing or 2, and get to enjoy some of the benefits of being 'in the industry'.

Surely pay is dependent upon experience anyway. After many years working in a bike shop, I can honestly say, the pay isn't the important bit. It can be a lot of fun, particularly if you're a part timer. I spent the whole way through uni working at shops, and would recommend to all.

Good on you for offering it up here!

I work in a bike shop and I'm well aware of how it all works. I'm just genuinely curious what the pay is. Your reluctance to offer up any info regarding makes me feel like it's low...
Not a dig - just wanna know. If you have no power to change it: just tell us!
Also reflecting @Señor_Bear 's thoughts - nice one for advertising on here -

Ok nz lucas, thanks for being so open and upfront on the knotty question of money. I am curious now, so could we try to get a feel for the pay is like ?
The London Living Wage is £9.75 dose Cycle Surgery pay less equal or more for this position ?
I find this question helps greatly to sort out those employers who are genuinely socially responsible and those who use words like fair, socially responsible, caring et al as P.R. slogans to look good.

It's retail. They're not going to pay £10 an hour. My guess is more like 7

I don't understand why you're trying to be so cloak and daggers with the pay - it's the standard cycle surgery rate right? If it's beyond your control just tell us.
You send this to me in a private message:
A little higher than minimum, not as much as Evans, but we have a commission scheme which a FT employee can add over .50p/hr if they are attentive to customers.
Sorry I don't feel comfortable advertising the rate on this forum.I'm not tryna be a twat I just think it's interesting to know how much a job like this pays and be upfront with people about how much you're gonna pay them.
Why be weird? I was genuinely interested in this job, but not really anymore... -

No cloak and daggers, just responding to you directly rather than having a big long thread.
@PhilDAS that looks a bit out of date from the last increases in minimum wage.
If anyone is interested in a job, that pays near minimum wage plus commission, email the shop and arrange an interview.
Cheers all
