  • Also... Does anyone have any comparable experience with the Pre cursa and a Vigorelli? They look to have fairly similar geo.

  • yeah....i love how it rides. I'm super happy with it. I have no ideea why the low price of the frame, but I recomend it.

Really now...why is the frame sold this cheap?

  • Yeah i'm struggling to understand the price! I'm looking to do something similar with wide box section rims and high flange hubs to make it a little more comfortable as it'll be my road commuter. Where did you get the fork from?

  • Ciclicorsa, I got it from their online store, 19€ shiping.

  • Any chance someone with the newest version Pre Cursa/Alpina could measure the BB drop?

  • Just putting it out there, but would anyone be interested in buying my track rig? I'm not using it as much as I'd like and would rather have some nice Road wheels. It consists of a 54cm track champ, training tubs with formula hubs, HED disc with v. New vittoria pista tub, 7600 cranks, pro vibe 7s bars and Thomson stem +cogs and chainrings. Probably looking for £450 odd (probably more) but would have to price it up properly.

  • Ha ha, that price might have to go up a bit. Really just seeing if anyone wants to buy a complete racing rig. Is that sort of thing people do? I'm so out of touch these days.

  • How much for the disc?

  • I think the going rate is about £100 for the disc without tub, tub only has about 4-5 hours use so probably after £140 posted. Would much rather sell everything together though.

  • Interested in the disc if it's available to post. Will PM

  • Would potentially be interested in cranks

  • How are the pre-cursas so cheap?

The Look 464 seems inferior, yet is much pricier - just because it's a Look?

  • Spec and warranty show it's not inferior, you get what you pay for.

Precursas are cheap because they are cheap, for instance their warranty period is 2 years (standard) whether LOOK is a whopping 5 years, including 1 years paint and finish.

Smaller stuff like the LOOK have a full carbon fork, about 200g lighter frame, have an accurate geometry chart (a rarity amongst Dolan), the only biggest disadvantage I can see is that it doesn't have tapered steerer.

Precursas are not even that strong, it's stiff but it's not uncommon for it to crack around the bottom bracket after being abused for so long, it's an entry level track frame.

Personally, the Cinelli Vigorelli HSL appear to be the better option, especially with the tapered fork despite having an alu steere.

  • I thought it was agreed that you see more crack just because theres so many out on the road (and they get abused more than any other frame). If the same number of people rode looks or even mash frames in the same way I'm sure youd see similar numbers of cracks

  • Having said all this, if you're just using it for arse and giggle, then the LOOK is vastly overpriced.

  • I thought it was agreed that you see more crack just because theres so many out on the road (and they get abused more than any other frame).

Hence "after being abused for so long", in hindsight that may have been a bit too vague a description.

Having said that (again), looking at frames like the Cinelli Vigorelli seemed to survived considerably well in spite of costing more, and being a little less common.

  • Thought I'd post my new Pre Cursa built as a long distance commuter. Mix of new parts + bits from old road and TT bike. Very chuffed with how it rides.

  • Sorry to be a bother, but can I twist someone's arm to measure the BB drop on the newest Pre Cursa?

My home track is 50° and I currently run 170 cranks. Not interested in experiencing pedal clip at the track!

  • Could you not find out from your home track if they accept Precursa?

AFAIK the Precursa's geometry is designed for UK indoor track, as they were a common choice as a hired bike, perhaps giving Dolan a call would be helpful.

  • W/ a friend's carbon wheel

  • Track champ now for sale over here - Had to put the price up from initial estimate when I added it all up, but I still think it's fair. May be way off, but I'm sure the friendliest forum on the internet ™️ will let me know.

  • My build, sorz for shitty quality photo
Have already replaced chinese carbon saddle because it started to creak

  • @Turkish @edscoble I have to argue that the Pre Cursa can stand up to track use surprisingly well. At work we have only had 1 frame failure from 79 Pre Cursas in almost 5 years despite many heavy crashes. On the one that failed the bottom broke off the trackend so an unusual mode of failure and can be attributed more to how heavy the hit in the crash was rather than anything lacking in the frame.
