  • Anyone in frankfurt that could do me a favour? Pick soething up cash and post it to me, ill cover the postage plus beers

  • Of course Hope. Why didn't I think of Hope?

  • As you predicted, tis rim brakes I'm after. Thanks tho.

  • Velosolo, trialtech and On-One all sell cogs that look like they're rebranded Andel products.

    The On-One version is blackish.

  • Velosolo 'state' they are Andel. Same as the Surly cogs without the branding.

  • I got these wheels built for a roadie conversion so can I assume that that's a spacer and I can just take it out for my track frame?

Depending on how thick the spacer is, you may need a washer between the cone and lock nut to make the OLN up to 120mm. If you're actually going to use it on the track, you'll need to cut off the excess axle length, so that it doesn't stick out past the track nuts and become an injury hazard.

  • I see a lot of builds using a Thomson seatpost and stem combo, why is this so popular?

I am personally considering using a Deda Superleggero combo for a fixed gear build, are there anyway reasons not to? Would it be too roadcentric?

  • They're good. They look nice.

  • are there anyway reasons not to?

    No

    Would it be too roadcentric?

    No

    why is this so popular?

    Made in the US/Instagram likes

  • why is this so popular?

Hipster points. There are plenty of Taiwanese alternatives (possibly bearing Italian branding 😀) which are both better and cheaper.

  • ALL my bikes have Kalloy stems

  • Appreciate all the answers ! I'll probably end up just going Deda Superleggero rather than the Thomson route

  • go Nitto for niche hipster points

  • I still see a few fixed gear builds with Nitto kit, but never Deda Superleggero. Surely I should get more niche points with Deda ;)

  • I'm going to Berlin in July for a work conference. When visiting the city before, I've usually stayed more on the Eastern side of the city, but the conference I'm attending will be at Messe/CityCentre so I'm looking for central/west neighbourhoods that would be nice to stay in (I'm planning on AirBnB). Somewhere near the S5 S-Bahn line would be useful. Any suggestions?

  • A polished AVA stem would be truly niche.
    The Deda seems too available/practical.

  • Is there an indexed down tube shifter option for 10 speed Campag?

  • That would be beautiful on a vintage build, I'll have to keep it in mind for another project.

Fair point about the Deda. Though, I am trying to get a speedy build completed in the next few months so the availability is a bonus. And being weight conscious the superleggero option seems fair.

  • Zipp everything for maximum points.

  • kalloy

    /thread

  • Lol. Even though I am aiming for more points, I feel Zipp is reserved for the true ballers. I am just too poor.
