  • Picked this frame up off @Trunkie a short while ago, (not using those forks anymore)

and have been sorted out with some forks by @Jimmy_Fingers.

Since dropping it off with Mario Vaz for spraying I've been uhmming and aaahing about what colour to get.. (any and all opinions welcome). Currently he's just blasting and priming it for me, if I can't decide on what I want I may just take it away like that, and bring it back later or go for my own rattle can job. I think budget only allows for a single colour, maybe 2.

Have black decals at the moment which sort of limits possible colour options so may try and get my hands on some white ones or something...

  • I'm leaning towards this colour (stolen from classifieds)

  • Here's a classic looking MKM

  • Here's some previous jobs of Mario's that I like

  • Those forks are gonna look nice!

  • Yass for green.
    What group's gawn?

  • Cheers, I hope it'll end up nice, I'm worried about making a dud choice on colour!

  • If I leave it with Vaz I'll prob ask him to go green. The other option is collect after he's primed it and ruin his nice tidy prep work with a rattle can job.

Group wise... don't know yet, I'm not particularly organised with my parts collecting so it'll probably just be a combo of things I like to begin with :)

  • Now leaning towards something like this^ Or:

    Or:

Any thoughts (will it look shit?) or recommendations for something along these lines?

  • My MKM frame. Still waiting to build this up.

  • doo like, fancy lugwork! Gold Decals look nice

  • Metallic racing green with gold decals or this >>>> with gold decals...

  • Yeah. Still got the forks for it. Its two or three frames down the line for building up just now. I'll get round to it......

  • very crazy bike!!! I have the same front brake - dia compe for non drilled fork. I want buy the dia compe rear track frame brake with adapter. See at: http://www.brookscycles.co.uk/dia-compe-rear-track-frame-brake-set.html

  • Sorry, I did a mistake on post!!!

  • Saw @Sig_Arlecchino post this on another thread and its also in the running...

    It's too hard to decide....

I now have a few more options for decals as well

  • +1 on the ascot paint scheme. As a matter of fact, I found a pretty roughed up Basso Randonneur for a good price a couple weeks ago. Thought about buying it to paint it in the Ascot paint scheme but someone else was quicker than me.

  • Only just seen this thread - frame looks nice and those forks as already mention should suite well. Liking the blue to white fade posted above, always like that combo. Personally I'd go down the route of trying to mimic a factory finish seen online if that's not too boring!

  • Hmm I think you're probably right Jambon! No idea what the factory finish may have been like for this particular frame, but I think its a good idea to try and keep it fairly authentic. I'll email the guy who runs the MKM cycles website again and see if he can help. Here's a few that I found online, mostly 'Ultimates' as they seem to be the most famous

Here's some more greens that are tempting me...

Quite like the sound of silvery metallic green @mattyc but with black+silver decals..

  • Great looking frame, that Argos is one of my favourites but i think the classic MKM in silver is timeless and works with any choice of components, but then i'm pretty boring.

  • I'm in a similar mind, I just like bright colours on bikes. I'm even tempted to get it done in a Fluro colour (trololol)

What are people's thoughts on 650b fixed wheelsets, I'm craving some plusher tyres.. have been caning it around on 23c for years
