I'll get some of these and run full brake and gear cable outer along the downtube.
If you'd want to run a front mech would that mean a triple?

• #135
How's this coming along?

Painted and awaiting small parts. Not decided which way to go re gearing yet. Bar end, gevenalle/retroshift or normal brifters. No stress though. This build is not priority 1.
Open pic in new tab to see the hammered effect.

Oh wow that paint looks great, you did a really good job! What are the forks?
-
• #138
I agree. The paint looks ace!
Did you go for the spray on or brush on? -
• #139
Cheers! Quite happy with it. Brush on. Very forgiving and easy to use. Didn't do it any specific way, just a standard brush and it floated out and resulted in a pretty even finish. Will use again. Forks are from Poison bikes.

Clean!
What bottle cages are you using ? -

Not much progress yet. Regarding gears and shifting. Just spotted this which has pretty much exactly the shifting setup i would like. I already have a Rival 1 derailleur lying around. Would these sram bar ends work? Looks like that is what he's running.

SL-500 works great with 1x. Check 1x11 on this compability map.

My wife's commuter has these single cable clamps. They're never quite tight enough and do rattle loose a bit. Thats possibly the loose cable rattling them though. Just realised I could wrap electrical tape round the cable to make it fatter.
Either way I 'solved' it by taping the cable down between the clamps.
They're neat though.
Bike looks good so far.

I just did a 10 speed version of that .. old S500 10 speed TT shifters and the new GX short cage (11-36) mech, works perfect.

Sram 10 speed shifters and 11 speed MTB derailleurs have the same pull right?
And 11 speed "road/cx" 1X derailleurs (Apex 1, Rival 1 and Force 1) have the same pull as the normal road 11 speed derailleurs (Rival 22, Force 22 and Red 22)?Just double and triple checking.
Edit: The rear shifter in the Rival 1 groupset is actually a Rival 22 shifter. If that one works with the Rival 1 derailleur, the 11's Tri/Aero bar-end must surely also be working. No?
TL;DR
I should just pay €30 more and get normal Rival 1 brifters instead... -

Absoluteblack Oval.
Thanks for the link. Not too fond of centrelock though.
@TM had problems with his one, but that was probably hub gear now I think about it.
