  • A small indent in a straight seat tube would have been another option.

    The indent would go all the way through the tube if you wanted to make room for the tyre with the wheel fully forward in the track ends.

  • If the straight seat tube you've drawn in met the bottom bracket in the correct place...

    ...it would need a seatpost with more set back. Or, to put it another way, to hit that saddle set back, the tube angle would have to be slacker and a straight one would still hit the tyre.
