An afterthought.
As you can see, my formatting skills are inadequate to lay out claims in a clear way. If we think it's worth having a Records thread perhaps some who is more modern than me could devise something better.
'Every story needs a picture' so here is Jeff Marshall at the time of his 1.2. m.g. 25. I can't promise this is from the actual event, but it may well be. Incidentally, anyone still here who went on the early Hard Day in January rides may remember that Jeff demonstrated then that high speed pedalling is not something that can only be done by the young.
