  • How accessible? like something to keep phone, maybe food etc. in it?

    My main concern is that there's no back on that rack to provide extra support, so it may slide around if you were to go for a rando bag like you said.

    Depend on the distance between the handlebar and the rack, an old school carradice saddle bag can work wonder, here's an example;

  • Yeah snacks, bits and bobs, maybe things like an extra layer/rain jacket, sunscreen.

    I was considering ditching the rack completely and going for rando bar bag, but would ideally like to keep the rack and get a suitable bag/pack to strap to it.

    How does that^ carradice attach?
