  • This is definitely worth checking out. Some awesome games here.

  • I was about to get this and hit you up but then I watched some youtube gameplay from last year and it looked naff - like Conflict: Desert Storm which was great for its time - but this is 2017 and it needs to be much better. Visuals were not impressive. Movement animation was bizarre. Cheap writing etc. I've never played a Ghost Recon game before and thought this could be the one - I'm in the mood for a modern shooter with some tactical elements. But....

Destructoid review sounds like it could be accurate:

  • On the other hand I need something else to play because I've looked at my PayPal account and realised I've spent nearly 50GN on pay to win mobile games by Sega (Total War: Kingdoms which is an absolute shower of shit but I can't control myself).

  • Hmmmm I'm enjoying it thus far but maybe my standards are lower? I'm having probs with my hack atm suddenly turning off when gaming in W10 which is a worry... I don't think its over heating as I only got up to 70 in Prime95.

I also bought the division but have yet to play... keen on any tactical shooters you'd recommend. I plan on being hung over on sunday, its going to be a day for gaming...

  • I'll earns some brownie points in advance of Sunday then.

I enjoyed the division but it got very grindy very quickly. I do like seeing "100%" though so...
    ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • Incidentally, I'm sure it's fine -I just don't think it's 40 quid fine. 30 is plenty for a Steam title. 40 has to be very special. 49 for Civ VI I simply can't understand. Has anyone played it? How is it the most expensive mainstream game on Steam? Honestly? How much can they have improved it since Civ2?

  • AWESOME.
Best I find sometime to stress test my machine again... see if it black screens. Should I use K+B for the division or will a steam controller do?

  • Look at the new Ghost Recon but it looked pretty much the same as every other modern military shooter. Figured I'd go see if I could find any of the old Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six games online, turns out they've all been hanging out in my Steam library for the last few years.

    Yus.

  • Also Humble's Spring sale has some great offers, Grim Fandango and Shadowrun Triple Pack with hefty discounts.

  • Dungeons 2 is free there as well (if anyone cares)

  • It's soooo pretty though. And I recognise a lot of the places from my #demigapyah so I get kinda nostalgic while killing Sicario's. Win win.

  • onto NG++ because i am addicted

I know what you mean. Dark Souls 3 gets better and better. Totally immersive with different builds, meta based PVP. Once you get into stats there are infinite possibilities. So many choices in approach and how you style your play. Just tackling the Abyss Watchers, a crazy hard boss but am learning slowly the trick.

  • What's the pinnacle of modern military (tactical) shooters? Cos I'd like a go. Preferably something with suitable AI so that johnny no-mates here can play on my own with a NPC squad that knows what it's doing.

  • Civ 6 is good, but I got it free with my GPU. I wouldn't pay over 20 quid for it. I've just bought Titanfall 2 cos it's cheap on CDKeys. The campaign is short but really quite good. Mutiplayer is decent too.

  • Battlefield 1?

  • Civ 6 is also on sale at Humble Bundle. £33 I think.

  • Playing it - and enjoying it - should clarify by modern I mean set in the modern world.

  • Been meaning to try Titanfall - might have a gander at CDKeys - always forget it exists.

  • Ta - still struggling to see how it can be 33 x better than Civ 2 (WW2 campaign 4lyf). In fact. That's my weekend sorted.

  • I seem to recall Rainbow Six 3 being pretty good.

Aside from that I've got little experience aside from the PS1-era Tom Clancy games.

  • CDKeys got the better of me... :/

Metal Gear Solid V - never played a MGS game in my life apart from a demo of an early one when it came on the free CD on the cover of PC Gamer "back in the day" and couldn't figure out the controls so I just rage deleted.

Civ6. We shall see, Sid Mieieeieiiers, we shall see.

A few missing titles from the CoD series (because I'm never going to pay 40 quid for Ghosts but 4.99 seems worth a punt).

Shogun TW: Fall of the Samurai - again, why pay 30 quid on Steam for what is ostensibly an expansion pack.

And a couple of others. But still no Ghost Recon.

  • Remember when games came on CD?

  • And FLOPPY! I had some crackers on 3.5"

  • MGSV is probably best appreciated by someone new to the series. Mechanically amazing, the storyline is a complete mess and struggles and fails to tie the other games' stories together.

  • The stories have always been a bit of a mess, like they had a list of words they wanted to get in somehow and made it up as it went along. E.g. Shagohod. MGSV just takes this to a new level.

Really fun game though, don't bother trying to be too stealthy on the first play through because there's load of shenanigans to be had with explosives.
