Thought as much. Wheels then forks as priority...

Unfortunately 1" steerer, would want mudguard eyes too probably #dickhead Will prolly need to build wheels as I still want a dyno hub...

  • Wheels, tyres is a good start for actual weight lost, then it's pretty much what you're willing to spend on your bike to actually make it lighter 'and safer' #chainbreaker

  • Why do you want to lighten the current bike?

Available with eyelets, not cheap though. Swapping out the steel threaded fork for a carbon bladed threadless was the best thing I ever did to my old steel fixed, probably more to do with ride quality than weight though.

  • Because it's heavy.

  • Sub 4.5 im guessing? That bike is mad. Did he make the brakes himself?

  • What's going on with the chain around the front derailleur?

  • Sticky chainring? Dunno

  • That RD is clever.

  • 3.7 Apparently!

  • And made in 2005 which is quite impressive

  • I'm changing a few things on my road bike and want to try to save a few hundred grams in the process.

    Can anyone recommend:

    Crabonz 31.8 inline post
    Crabonz 90mm -ve stem
    Crabonz bars

I'd want to de logo them all so ideally with the sort of logos you can acetate away.

170mm GXP cranks and BB, I'm going for 1x.

Ideally this would all cost me less than £500.

  • For post just use whichever <200g chinacarbon one you can find on eBay. @PhilDAS has one he reccommends.

Kalloy Uno would come in under 100g w ti bolts. That and the post are under £50.

Wouldn't use chinacarbon drop bars but 3t carbon bars are generally forum reccommended. Hope that helps

  • Smud carbon for the post!
    Piotr makes awesome stuff!
You can spec it with no logos but I went with a matte UD finish with stealth black graphics on mine. :)
Ridiculously light stuff, but really good quality and really tidy finishing.
    His saddles are awesome too!

  • Ah, just saw 31.8...I was speed reading and saw 31.6
Think that might rule out smud.

  • 31.6 is what I meant...

    Thanks so far.

    Cranks?

  • SRAM Red 10 speed. You can strip them using a blade and some snad paper.

  • This and whichever narrow wide for 1x. Although @amey reckons 6800 arms and a wolftooth NW is the lightest 1x crank setup (i think)

  • 9000 and wolftooth would be lightest for silly money which then gets compensated as you have to use the XTRdi2 boat anchor rear mech

  • You don't have to have matching groupsets you know

  • Smud carbon for the post!

    Piotr makes awesome stuff!

I've tried to buy stuff from Piotr five times now, succeeded once. Seems very much a hobby/lifestyle affair for him, which is a shame as the stuff he makes is nice.

  • I've had two saddles and a seatpost from him over the past couple of years.
Sometimes needs a couple of emails but he's always got back to me eventually.
He did me a good deal last time too.
Was going to get a one piece saddle and seatpost too just recently and he offered a really good price.
I know he's very busy at the moment though.

  • He's been "very busy" for the past five years. I just can't be bothered to email again, and again, and again - with never any real hope that I'm going to get an answer.

Which as I've said is a shame - he makes good stuff, he's just terrible at selling it to people.
