Attempted bike jacking + London Fields

Just a heads up...

Around 10.05 tonight my partner was riding home from Nettle House to Stokenewington. She's just turned down Navarino Rd when two mopeds approached her from the other direction. She says the mopeds were weaving over the road and as they drew near, a passenger tried to kick her off her bike. When that failed, he tried to grab her but she managed to evade him and get away.

So if you're out in that area tonight keep your eyes peeled.

This is awful. I rode down Navarino Rd on Monday evening for the first time on the way to a new gym, and noted to my friend what a nice area it seemed to be.

Choices: big road, dice it with the cars OR small road, and risk getting mugged. Fucking yay.

Noticed a lot of this around Notting Hill/ Ladbroke Grove lately. Saw some kids on mopeds nicking a parked one up at Notting Hill Gate, guy who nicked it couldn't even drive it, just missed getting collected by a bus because he couldn't use the brakes. Saw a couple of guys on one, on the scope near Portobello Rd yesterday. Had a group drive straight at me near Trellick Tower a couple weeks back.

Still seems like there are a lot of forced entry robberies on the Stolen Bikes thread too round Hackney South / Clapton.

We had our gated area broken into 3 times in the last 2 months, we live close to Bethnal Green and I think it was the same group of 6 that stole that blokes brompton. Bastards nicked my childhood mountain bike.

Fucks sake, I do hope your partner isn't affected by this in the long term and can regain confidence.
A couple of people i know have had their mobile phones plucked out of their hands/from their ear near the mc donalds on city road by moped riders in the last couple of weeks, its happening so often now that they've put up posters to warn people of the crime. We're so close to the police station it's like they are performing it right infront of their eyes, unfortunately the area has so many exit routes there's nothing you can do to slow them down, they are putting up bollards to stop thru traffic but a moped can slip right through.

Time to bring my equivalent of the baseball-bat-in-the-boot with me, 'just in case'
