  • Utfs turned up a few comments about running the pompetamine frame with 650b or 26" wheels, has anyone actually tried it? I found this pic, caption reads "26 x 1.85" WTB Nanoraptor on Mavic XC717 in a small Pompetamine, axle in middle of trackend" which looks like no trouble at all clearance wise. I might be able to lay my hands on one of these frames and would like to run it with fatter tyres than allowed with 700c which is why I ask.

  • I'd love to know the results if you try either 26in or 650b. I assume 26in would increase the liklihood of pedal strike in corners, which would be an issue for me. Thinking about this for me than a few seconds has made me realise the cantis wouldn't work. Not too fused at the front as I'm changing to disc brake but I'd like a good performing rear brake.

  • I've got some grand bois hetre EL on my pompetamine - 650x42b on 22mm rim (so around 44mm) - bb height is ok. Berthoud 50mm mudgards seem to fit, so clearance is quite okay too.
