Beastway last night was great. Lots of effort from trail builders with some new, more technical A lines (with B lines for those more wary too) and the new singletrack is beginning to bed in as well.

Now on every Wednesday weeknight for a few months.

i assume you can't do beastway on a cross bike?

Yeah, you can. I did a few last year. It's hard to be competitive, mostly because it tends to be pretty bumpy, but it's a good challenge.
