It would just be necessary to give a little consideration as to what would constitute a record. Here are my thoughts:
Records should only be accepted for rides done on single gears (fixed or free).
They should be verifiable: certainly any open, but probably club events also. However we wouldn't really want to accept something like "....yeah, it was defintely a 42 minute 25, my mate timed it with his mum's alarm clock."
Records would be accepted for the standard CTT distances, plus the Hour on the track.
The claimant should have been posting on the forum.
There should only be the minimum number of rules to make the scheme interesting.
A couple of other points.
If people here think this is a worthwhile idea then it should have its own thread.
Age related records may be worth considering. We could adopt the UCI practice of 5 year age bands, say from 40 upwards.
