Today's gems; a negotiated agreement could have been reached on slavery avoiding the need for the Civil War, and a Government shutdown will help fix the Senate stalemate.

Healthcare plan voted in... the review of this by a government body was very negative, and it still passes?

That's why the Republicans are successful - they will always unite, even when the decision is utterly wrong, if it helps consolidate an image of success and screw over their enemies. Completely unhindered by principle.

Yeah, seems like a genuinely devastating moment for the country. And to have a self-congratulatory victory party afterwards as it sounds like people may die as a result of having funding withdrawn is unbelievably crass. Still, it has to get through the Senate, and no doubt opponents of the repeal will be ramping up their lobbying efforts.

Feel sorry for the the 20 (?) republicans who voted against the plan (the few critics from the republican side, will probably have a hard time from now on).
-
• #2442
Well, there was some suggestion that many of them made their decision to oppose the bill late in the day, after it had become clear that Trump would get his majority. So, possibly done for political reasons to appease the people in their districts, rather than out of genuine opposition.

See also Tories... a certain amount of electioneering and posturing is impossible to avoid to play the game, but they have gotten infested with US GOOD EU BAD UK GOOD FOREIGNERS BAD by now, which is typical US vs THEM.
And it works for them.

I saw something on my twitter feed this morning that was suggesting the senate were not going to vote on the house plan as is and already had a working group going for a few weeks to write their own healthcare legislation which might pull in elements of the house one. I dont know how valid or true it was or if thats even possible but it might change it to be a different beast. especially if the funding drives to get rid of republicans that voted it in start to gain traction.

Amazing; Obama specifically warned Trump not to hire Mike Flynn in that very first meeting at the White House after the election.
By the state of Donald's twitter he is also bricking it re. Sally Yate's testimony later too.
