Which course is that?
Hampshire RC were on the P881 on Saturday afternoon, a bit further towards civilisation than Petersfield

Wouldn't your water get really warm like this?
-
• #15529
Yes, that looks about right. Makes sense that they'd use that roundabout as the turn (the only one left on the A3 now). Looked to be a pretty miserable experience (although probably quick given the traffic volume).

That's time trialling! :)

I like the A3 courses. Wide lanes and never had a close pass. The middle roundabout is a bit hairy though - going North you need to be decisive about your lane.

Yep, I've ridden the 25 variant that starts up the top of the hill from Liss a couple of times in evening ...a3crg events. Good surface, and like you say, wide lanes and little traffic.

Forum Time Trial Records
I don't think we have these, but why not?
It would just be necessary to give a little consideration as to what would constitute a record. Here are my thoughts:
Records should only be accepted for rides done on single gears (fixed or free).
They should be verifiable: certainly any open, but probably club events also. However we wouldn't really want to accept something like "....yeah, it was defintely a 42 minute 25, my mate timed it with his mum's alarm clock."
Records would be accepted for the standard CTT distances, plus the Hour on the track.
The claimant should have been posting on the forum.
There should only be the minimum number of rules to make the scheme interesting.
A couple of other points.
If people here think this is a worthwhile idea then it should have its own thread.
Age related records may be worth considering. We could adopt the UCI practice of 5 year age bands, say from 40 upwards.
What do you all think?

We had the forum BAR... should bring that back. But yes, up for forum records.

Just had a go at the Tuesday Tens on medium gear fixed. Was going well until lap 9 when I came a cropper hitting the bump on the bridge with tired legs from spinning like a madman down the straight with a tailwind. Luckily I was able to pilot into a soft bush but learned a valuable lesson: don't go for aero gainz when you plan on spinning 130rpm!

Which one were you? Red Dolan or black steel?
I did it fixed as well, on the nemo Koga but most people had gone by the time I started!
Maybe whoever was fastest out of us could have the inaugural LFGSS Fastest 10, seeing as it's only just been suggested, until someone fast comes along?

Red Dolan. Good idea, hopefully my first 8 laps were quick enough to make up for my little lie down.
-
• #15538
Shit, when you said you came a cropper I thought you meant put off your stroke rather than actually landing in a bush! Glad you're alright, has it put you off next week?
-
• #15539
Can't make it next week anyway but I'll be back, just need to dial back the position a bit: less extreme stem and push the saddle back and down. Glad I found out at the velopark and not on the open road.

Down with the forum records, @umop3pisdn is gonna be a hard man to beat though...
The only time I'm proud of is a 56:03 for a 25m, 90" fixed so that stand for a few minutes until the fast boys come along.

No way, surely the records have to start from when it's been announced, not all of these retrospective ones?
More fun that way...
-
• #15542
Yeah, why not. Have to start the trophy engraving sometime.
If I get a ride in the API Metrow 25 in June I reckon I can knock minutes off that.
We need a club hill climb too really, though I'd have to build a fixed machine to compete.

@xavierdisley has gone faster on fixed for 10 miles at least.

It's still there

Still time I guess...

I think there should be a geared category, even if we don't get prizes (that wouldn't be taken by me anyway).

Alternatives to a 20mm Conti Supersonic for my front Zipp 808? The 23mm GP TT looks like a balloon on it...
There was what I assume to have been a TT taking place on the A3 (!) near the Petersfield roundabout on Saturday afternoon. Which course is that? I've never seen one there before (grew up near the area) and thought that traffic counts had killed all the A3 courses.
