  • Saw loads of Tweed on Saturday in clerkenwell area - looked liked helluva lot of fun!

  • ^^ +1, slone sq was crazy.
Big up to all the marshals, they did a great job, especially with the numbers involved. When the chopping started to happen I was worried groups may end up being left without a marshal or anyone who knew the route. I waited on junctions and helped where I could but hopefully everyone made it there safely in the end.
Private security for bike parking was a nice addition at least.
The eye wateringly priced drinks at the end not so much.

  • into the tweed run before it was cool?

    hipster thread >>>>>>>>>>>

Has it comes to this, DJ being right about something?

I would say into the Tweed Run when it was 9 degrees and January and only 100 of us!

  • Hello All - just found this great forum even though based in Dorset. Was on the Tweed Run last Saturday - great fun this - second year running. Someone told me there was a published Finishing List/Participants List? Does anyone know anything about this?

  • Not too sure on the participants list sorry, but did you come with your partner(?) and jest that travelling up in tweed, Londoners may think that's how everyone dresses in Dorset?

  • Got a free ticket so will be providing a forum presence this weekend. Don't do gin so will have a big bottle of WKD stashed away in my musette

  • Londoners may think that's how everyone dresses in Dorset?

    Wait, you mean it isn't?

  • Wasn't planning on going but managed to get 2 tickets so will be there on my tandem with my daughter. Haven't been for the last 3 years or so.

  • @MrT4 and I are marshalling, God help us. Keep an eye out!

  • Had anybody got a spare ticket?

  • Too many people, too much traffic, too much perching on a stationary bike

  • Tweed beer

  • Takes you back to the days of circus strongmen, doesn't it? :)

  • Greetings folks,

Is it me or is this thread just so last year......?

I had a ticket and attended the ride on Saturday. Saw lots of forumengers doing the marshalling - Tanya + 1, Mark and Bruce to name a few... It was very well organised - well done...

Yes the ride was rather slow but every cloud has a silver lining - I used it as a chance to trackstand my way around town. There were more than a thousand punterz so these things take time... I saw some really lovely old bikes.
    Peace and love to all,
    Tim

  • We're not allowed to block roads/junctions.
    We have no police escort.
We have 1000-odd people, most of whom don't ride regularly, let alone in central London, in Tweed, in a group.
We have tandems, recumbent tandems, penny farthings, kids, wheelchairs, a dandy horse and much more.

What exactly did you think it would be like? :P

  • ...wasn't it super

  • Yes.

@photoben your group picture taken at the imperial war museum looks amazing. Are there plans to sell high resolution copies?

    @JAHtim , like a boss :-)

  • Another chance to dust off the tweed (or linen, worsted, cotton...) on 10 June at the Nocturne: Concours d'Elegance http://www.londonnocturne.com/concours.php

  • It stopped being a forum ride years ago. Now it's just something some forum folk do. Marshals have fun and that's where you'll find almost all the forumengers still involved, as @JAH_tim said.
