If you have spent your life campaigning/protesting then a GE must be the most exciting thing imaginable, so you can understand that Corbyn must be feeling amazing. And if you combine that with being totally impervious to criticism then, yes, you can see him just staying around. Why would be move on? He's got his dream job, he's earning a great salary & pension, he's never going to have to do the hard stuff (that would result from winning power), so he'll hold on as long as he can. In the same way he had plodded along in politics for all those years.
Part of me thinks it doesn't really matter, as there will be further 5 years to wait until the next election, by which time Corbyn surely will have gone. But, then again, some token opposition against the dominance of the Conservatives would be helpful.
