  • @giofox88 - I saw upstream that you had nanos on your straggler. Were they the 700x41 variety?
I want to put some big, grippy tyres on mine to follow a MTB friend round some trails and they seem like they fall within my limited budget, but wasn't 100% sure they'd fit.

  • 40c

I got the TCS version when it was on sale on PX, now it seems the Comp on Wiggle are the best price around.

These are grippy, but also quite fast rolling when needed.

They do fit fine, I reckon there is still few mm clearance each side on the chain stays. The only problem I had was with the braze on FD position, it was rubbing the side of the tyre when pulled on the big ring. Moved back the wheel, but this generated other issues. I only later realised that if you are riding MTB trails you'll never need your 50t (I won't).

  • Yeah it's the comp version on wiggle I was looking at. I'm currently running it 1x9 so won't have any issues with front mech.

    cheers!

  • Actually that's a good point about not needing 50t. I have 40t up front and a 11-32 in the rear. Knowing nothing about riding on anything other than road, does that sound like a useful gearing for razzing around the woods?
