Interesting article, though water:rice ratios can vary significantly across types. Jasmine rice needs 1:1.5 (rice/water). Brown rice needs significantly more water.
An alternative is to pour your water, boiling, over the rice then cover it with tin foil and put it in an oven at ~105 C.
Very much this if your stuck for space
I struggled to make nice rice but have managed to get it ok now.
