Need to get some new wheels to be used for a bit of everything - club rides, club 10s, road racing - only got the funds for one set of wheels, budget of no more than £300, are Fulcrum Quattro LG the best bet?

Quite happy with the sticker, rather understated.

Gum walls look good

The Corsa G are remarkable tyres, definitely a worthy alternative to the GP4000sII I usually use for training/commuting (ironically better than the 4 Seasons).

Must give them a try

I have a pair of 20/24h CK R45's that need new rims.. what off the shelf options are there?
I may consider going chinese carbon, if anyone can recommend what the best of the best is.

Off topic, but that's a lovely bike Ed.

Also interested in any responses to @apc's query above - might want to try some carbon rims.
On another note, I managed to put some small dents in my Hunt alloy rims taking off a stubborn tyre - apart from being a bit annoyed, how worried would people be using the rim? Dents don't appear to be huge and rim is still true, but obviously not keen on sudden catastrophic failure

How small are we talking? A couple of millimetres should be fine. Make sure there aren't any sharp bits as that's what causes sudden failures.

Also, read the Orient Express thread for suggestions of rims, plenty of info and reviews there.

does anyone know when are the new mavic open pros out?

Does anyone have any experience of the CRC/Wiggle Prime wheels? I can't really afford them but 12 month paypal interest free credit is tempting, + BC discount makes them £595.
These ones http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/prime-rr-50-carbon-clincher-road-wheelset/rp-prod142961
My major concern is whether it's possible to delogo them (i.e. are they stickers) and whether that would void the warranty. Any other alternatives out there? Was thinking of Chinese carbon but 2 year warranty and spreading the cost is appealing.

Was thinking of Chinese carbon
Prime are Chinese carbon, the price premium just buys you whatever QA and after-sales support the distributor gives you. £595 is about what you'd end up paying a reputable Chinese company anyway, after allowing for shipping and taxes.

No idea about the wheels but I gave Enve shit on Facebook for advertising 0% credit on their ridiculous spendy wheels on the basis that buying toys on credit is generally a terrible idea

Maybe the new Mavic Open Pro's with Exalith finish + tubeless?
-
• #7744
Yeah, aware that they're just rebranded farsports (or whatever). CRC after sales might be easier to navigate than farsports, and any warranty return would be easier. Only thought with direct from manufacturer was the ability to spec wheels myself (though prime are basically what I'd spec), and lack of ugly decals.

Yeah, well aware of this. I'm in a decent position though; currently a teacher working 3 days a week because I'm studying, but going back up to 4 days next week and 5 days in September. Job secure, and pay is decent, so no risk of not paying off the wheels, I just don't have the pounds at the moment and by the time I do it'll be time to get the winter wheels out.

Isen Workshop (Talbot / Hartley colab) on order. Can anyone recommend a 12mm front, qr rear wheel set under £500? Dt r23/24 are the only ones I can find.
-
• #7747
I'd go Campag Bullet for that money.
-
• #7748
Errr have some built for £500.
Hope/Hope with whichever wide rims suits budget.
-
• #7749
Good point, but preferably nearer 300 like the DT R24 are will be tricky. I had considered matching my wheels which are DT 350, comp spokes and r460 rims, but the overall cost and build time would be a bit much and it's hard to find hubs on their own with the right end caps. And I definitely don't want to spend an extra £30 buying an extra set of end caps...

I'm considering selling my Hed Belgium + on CK R45 (Ceramic bearing version) wheelset, as I just never use them, and would like some 650b whee;s for my gravel bike.
Probably sub 18ookm on them total. I only got them as a non carbon spare wheelset, and for use in the high mountains, but i just use my enve wheels for everything now as the braking is so good. I had the hubs serviced last autumn, and i doubt they've had more than 200km on them since then.
24/28 hole built with Sapim Race spokes.
Any interest before i post a sale thread next week sometime?
I end up going for the Zonda C17, it's not only a lots cheaper than the Fulcrum Racing 3 on trade price, but also wider too.
Pretty happy with it, just need to pair it with Swissstop BXP and I'm sorted.
