Reminds me of a Tour stage in the late Armstrong era, on a wet stage into Nancy I think. A break has a small gap going under the kite, then on a 90 right hander with 900 metres to go, the first two riders in the break go down, leaving Bernucci of Fasso Bortolo alone in the lead. Behind the leading riders in the peloton go down too, and as the camera goes to the long shot of Bernucci, you can see Cancellara, who'd gone down in the crash, yelling into his race radio to let his team mate know he had a gap.
Bernucci won the stage by a few seconds.
Aye that's his job. Sam could see the peloton stalling and so should let him know, so he can just bury himself.
One for all and all for one.
One of the reasons I love cycling, is the raw and honest team spirit.
