  • Example nuance of foxhunting ban - Farmers that raise livestock alongside thick vegetation (eg gorse) need dogs to flush out foxes in order to shoot them. The hunting ban sets the bar very low for number of dogs allowed so the hunters end up chasing the foxes around in circles on foot with a couple of dogs rather than flushing them out with a line of dogs (not a pack) and shooting them quickly.

    Of course it's entirely possible that many pro fox-hunters just want their horrible bloodsport back, but this sort of thing must contribute to the idea that the ban was pushed through by city folk who don't understand how the country works.

    Fwiw I'm a city dwelling vegetarian.
