I'm grounded tomorrow for CCBB, so just a little jaunt down to Dorking this morning for Surrey Hills perm.
Another cheeky AAA point secured for my SFW backdoor entry. -

That guy from Penge we spoke with a bit right in the beginning of the ride had his bike stolen from the control at Lambourn. He left it outside for some reason. Although we did, I will certainly always be locking my bike from now on. Bike locking always seems a bit relaxed at these things.

Whilst it has been known to happen occasionally on events, ussually outside of London it's quite low risk, that said I usually carry a cable lock to deter opportunists.
There were two bikes taken, though it looks like they have been recovered, found dumped down the road, can only assume a couple of opportunist drunks who couldn't ride them due to clipless pedals.

Ah, good to hear. Can only imagine the horror of discovering your bike is gone.
There are a lot of drunk opportunists out there on bank holiday long weekend Saturday night. We saw them in every town throughout the night. -

Spoke to the chap who had his bike nicked this morning while picking up Roseanna. He was obviously gutted. Not sure I'd think twice about leaving a bike outside somewhere like that. I'd be gutted

The rain has stopped. That's me out after 240km. Good event but don't leave that easy bail out skipping the Salisbury loop.

Riding in the rain for well over 12h is actually quite enjoyable.

Has anyone doing BCM this year received any info on route or anything? Got an email saying I was in, but nothing since. Obviously 2 weeks to go still, but just wondering if I've missed something.
-
• #6335
I don't recall receiving anything either.
-
• #6336
Just checked my email from last year and they didn't send round route email until 5th. So assume it's just not been sent yet.
-
• #6337
I've not had anything yet, don't think he provided GPX last year so hope it comes soon as routing it yourself can take a while!

Anyone in for Green and Yellow Fields tonight?
-
• #6339
I was hoping to use my usual technique.
(lurk on YACF and hope someone posts a GPX there).I'm just keen to know if the route's much different from last year. It's a route I'd be happy to ride again - particularly as I'm assuming I won't need to find a welder mid-ride this year.
-
• #6340
That's a plan.
Hopefully you can get round without that stress this year! I would be really happy with the same route again, thought it was amazing last year

I didn't love the bit with all the motorbikes on Sunday morning, but I suppose that's the price you pay for such nice scenery.
Also I think last year was borderline under-distance, so suspect a little might be added. -

Riding a 600 in Wales tonight, assuming I get on the train this afternoon.
-
• #6343
If you miss the train, you could make it an 800km starting in England :)
Good luck! -

My GPS was definitely under, but apparently a lot of the classic rides are

Anyone in for Green and Yellow Fields tonight?
Was going to but had enough disco last weekend.

It was quite wet, you made the right choice.

If anyone's interested, I've mapped the BCM's stages with infos and potential re-supply points. Putting it in code-mode so as not to have the huge embedded maps. There are some variants for stage 3; all are gonna be quite the elevation festival.

@Ruserius also suggested another nice looking minor road deviation at the start of stage 3:

Wow, thank you for all the route files.
I'm excited about the BCM as it'll be my first 600. I am down to my 75kg weight target and climbing well so feel ready to give it a good attempt.
Anyone else staying at the Severn View travel lodge on Friday night? If so say hello on Saturday morning - I'll be riding a silver Kinesis with a half frame bag.

I'm staying over the bridge in Chepstow this year. I will say hello if I see you, I will riding a disc braked Planet X, wearing Audax Club Hackney Kit.
Rumour has it one of ACH's finest @fussballclub will be providing TLC at Dolgellau.
Thanks, 22h in total, plus time to ride to the start and back. I've got mixed feelings about the ride itself, a good part of it was on rather busy A/B roads. We got some aggressive drivers too (honking/shouting while passing). The nice bits were really nice though and the org top notch.
