Enioy SS, guessing low expectations at long fun event better than structured target at shorter event for you? Hope it sets up the next steps well.
@juanito hope you're back on it soon.

Thanks, just formally entered. 10 weeks to go!
targeting something shorter just wouldn't have the same motivating effect for me as I know if push come to shove I could probably force myself around a half tomorrow (at the slowest pace ever) if i had to and I'm so far from my pb times that there's little to encourage me to throw myself into training for a 5/10k 'just' to run a disappointing time.
I'm still going to aim to do plenty of shorter events as part of training but they're the wrong sort of carrot on a stick to get me into my running shoes and out of the door right now.
I've started making a weight loss and training plan yesterday to gauge roughly how much I can get done in the time and where I'll be weight wise if i can stick with it. Going to do a lot of walking miles as well as running as i think time on my feet is going to be the biggest factor in an event like this.
On the verge of signing up to run Spitfire Scramble 24hr solo in july (10 weeks on sat), last run I did was in december (but have been cycling this year instead).
I'm going to die.
(actual plan is just to use it as a big stick to whip myself back into shape and if i only manage 5 laps then so be it).
