  • how do you mean away from neutral position?

for the front repeatedly push the lever and after 10-15 tries the pads may have moved further in. if it feels spongy then it sounds like it needs a rebleed

  • There is play in the shifter so that you can push the lever away from you from the position where it naturally is by about 10 degrees. It doesn't feel like a loose rattly however.

  • @motoko I've got these levers/brakes on a new bike and I've just looked and there's less 10mm, more like 8mm forward travel, at the end of the lever. Is the forward movement on both levers?

  • Is the fixing washer supposed to be in the box?

  • Just on one of them. Could be about 8mm travel. Is there some type of reach adjustment on these shifters?

  • Having just bought 4 of those rotors I can say that even if it is supposed to be, it isn't! Only the individual tightening plates are. No issues so far.

(edit - bit of googling seems to suggest the instructions are old from when they used a funky shaped bolt. Consensus is just use the bits they sent, i.e. the normal bolts and 3 x tightening plate things)

  • @motoko sorry dont know as ive only had the bike weeks and havent tinkered yet.
    Ill have a peek later

  • Nice one, thanks!

  • I asked this question weeks ago and no one answered me :(

  • You must be new here.

  • Apparently old paperwork and you don't need a fixing washer, just the included tightening plates.

  • oh wow, not if only i could get help on how to fit a vittoria randonneur now...

  • "We need bigger thumbs!"

  • Do you guys ^^ know what gear size I should be running on my fixie?

  • It's not a fixie.

  • What size Langster should I buy?

  • Are conti tyres any good?

  • Have you seen this?!?!? OMG LOL OMG LOLOCOPTER!

  • Might be a weird one...
Wondering if my spyres are biting the rotor too low down. Will update with pic tonight but pads are wearing the tops of the 'spokes' and am unsure if I should whack some washers under the caliper to move it up the rotor a bit? Currently no washers are there and instructions didn't suggest to add any?

  • I think this is a stupid question, but am validating my reasoning. I prefer the European system of having my front brake controlled by my left hand lever. I know have a bike with hydraulic brakes that has the traditional UK set up, i.e. the front brake is controlled by the right hand lever. There is nothing stopping me from swapping the hoses around, so that the front brake is operated by the left hand lever, is there?

  • nope, SRAM sells this as 'moto' version

  • That's crazy talk.

My mate did that. I'd almost always endo his bikes. I buried him in a shallow grave in the Dandenongs.

  • really tickled me. been a while
