Why this? I'm running hard shells and mudguards and haven't come off yet...

To be fair, I commuted all winter with 23 hardshells (with mudguards but that doesn't affect grip really) and didn't hit the deck. I did approach a downhill left hander pretty hot though and came very close, but I styled it out. They're generally considered to be pretty slippy in the rain, not a lot of tread pattern and I think the rubber is a bit of a harder construction than regular tyres.
Basically if you're running hardshells in the wet; Don't Lean™ -

Ackershly, according to an interview with a bike thief, 'High-value bikes were the main targets like Carrera racers, no-logo fixie bikes, Boardman racers and Ridgeback bikes.'

My nomination in the "Close But No Cigar" category is this fine pair, with a special mention for their work in the field of "Getting Handlebars Wrong".

TBF it make sense, as they're common as muck, to them, they are high value because they can easily be flogged in the next Sunday market without raising too much suspicion.
Try selling a Pinarello or a S-Works will likely to draw attention.

Whats wrong with the brake clearance, is it a 29er or something? looking at the other shots the clearance is a bit toppy... unless those spinergys are 650?

I remember the never ending warranties with those and their silly suspension, around about the same time. The poor bastard in the returns department at specialized got more and more miserable as that year went on.
